REFUGEE FARMERS REGISTERED TO FARM
IN THE ALLOCATED LAND AT MAE SARIANG CAMPS

Since May 5, 2011 till present, COERR Mae Sarieng staff of Mae Hong Son Province have surveyed for database of refugee farmers who are in need of land for farming. Camp committee and Section committee in coordination with COERR announced through community broadcasting tower to invite interested refugees to come to COERR Demonstration Farm for registering and getting membership card. New farmers are also welcome to replace the old farmers who have departed for third countries. A piece of land will be allocated to each registered farmer family for farming this year.

Since May, a number of registered farmers in Mae La Ma Luang and Mae La Oon camp have been preparing their land. Some started to grow plants.

Some seedlings have been grown in COERR Demonstration Center.
Seeds and seedlings will be distributed to farmers in June.

During May 25 – 26, COERR Agriculture team, including staff and consultant, numbering 10, were attending a seminar. The 3 year agricultural work (2008 - 2010) was reviewed. A planning for next year operation was made with experience sharing and brain-storming sessions for better development and efficiency of work.
